Why did columbine REALLY happen and why didn't anyone see the OBVIOUS warning signs?
never EVER underestimate the effect of bullying on a teenager. during the formative years of adolescence, vicious, ruthless, hate filled bullying can only escalate into one thing… violence. these kids actually had a cup of feces thrown on them in school, as well as daily humiliations at the hands of "jocks". these kids were beat down until the rage and hate consumed them. but the question is, what pushed them so far off the edge to the point of no return?? it wasn’t just the bullying… it was the complete immersion of themselves into dark, violent, horrifying lifestyle, they accepted and "loved the hate" they felt. i believe they were then under the influence of pure evil. their favorite movie was the SICK twisted film "natural born killers" murderers who kill not out of rage, but out of fun. they cheerfully egg on their victim and laugh as they brutalize and murder them. plus one of them even told his entire plan for mass murder to the class describing it as a "recurring dream" they made tapes and webcasts detailing their plans. still…… nothing?????
we MUST watch what our kids watch, what their influence is, and PAY ATTENTION. these kids should have been transferred to a different school. the parents should have made it happen. maybe they would not have gone over the edge, into the darkness and been consumed by evil.
There is an absolutely incredible movie about bullying, called 2:37. It should be absolutely REQUIRED for all high school students to watch. I believe the shootings happened when the kids felt they had no way out, and their pain completely consumed them. They could not go on with such horrible pain, and felt that they lacked the emotional strength to get through it.

Lack of a well "rounded" education. And yes…….poor supervision.

Was that a question, or an essay?
No one saw the "obvious" warning signs, because that type of behavior had never been publicized before, and no one knew what to look for!
The bullying those kids suffered was considered a normal part of growing up, and the behavior had been just that for generations. These were just the first kids to retaliated violently to the status quo after the "self confidence" movement had gotten started, and so were the first ones to get the publicity.

Bullying of this sort has been going throughout the entirety of human history… yet how many occurences like this have occurred? I agree, the parents should have been paying attention but there really was no precedent for what transpired.

Columbine really happened because some people are not right mentally and will do these things no matter what we do . We can only try to minimize the harm they do .

I think we should be careful when talking about this, as the signs did not become obvious until after the media sensationalized the shooting and began the probing questions. There was no one of knowing how those boys would have reacted. Many children have been bullied, but not many (if any) have shot up a school. This was a first and it set the standard in knowing what to look for.

Columbine happened because of the bullies, and no-one noticed the really obvious signs because they’re were hardly any. There were only little signs that on their own seemed innocent enough.

The world is full of people, many of whom aren’t very nice. There’s nothing new about that. However, most well-adjusted human beings learn to deal with the unpleasant parts of growing up without gunning down everyone in sight.
I don’t know anyone who wasn’t bullied or mistreated at some point in their lives. Being humiliated and picked on is no excuse for mass murder. Many people have survived far worse and managed to retain a moral compass. Wars, slavery, the Holocaust….
